Polygraph
ISN offers polygraph examinations that typically last about 2.5 hours, including various stages such as consent forms, instrument explanation, and the test itself. Results are promptly provided upon completion. Each examination is conducted discreetly and professionally, ensuring dignity and impartiality for every individual.
We offer two types of Polygraph Tests:

Single Issue Test - One question is asked multiple times throughout several charts with an accuracy rate of approximately 90%.

Multi-Issue Test - Three questions are asked multiple times throughout several charts with an accuracy rate of about 80%.
These accuracy levels are consistent across all tests, regardless of the examiner. Research indicates that polygraph tests generally achieve accuracy levels between 86-92%, effectively distinguishing truthfulness even when nervousness is present. How accurate is a Polygraph Test?
Research studies on polygraph examination determines that its accuracy falls between 86-92%. Most examinations readily reveal to the polygraph examiner whether or not the person is truthful.
What if I am telling the truth but I am nervous about taking the examination?
It is normal for an innocent person to be nervous, the polygraph examiner is aware of this. Nervousness does not prevent them from distinguishing between the truth and deception.
How long does a Polygraph take?
Examinations are approximately 2.5 hours. The examination involves various stages including consent forms, explanation of the instrument and how polygraph works, a discussion of the reason for the test, an acquaintance test and the actual test. The test cannot be expedited by eliminating portions of the process.
Where and When do we conduct tests?
Appointments are provided in Pickering, Ontario, Monday-Friday.
How many questions do I get to ask?
Polygraph allows 3 questions. Many clients have a list of questions that they wish answered. Often, the 3 questions can be worded in such a fashion that it includes all of your inquiries.
Are there restrictions to who can take a test?
Persons under 14 or women who are pregnant cannot be tested.
ISN's Polygraph Examiner
Sue Storey is our certified polygraph examiner. She retired from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with over 30 years of investigative experience. In 2010, she became the first female polygraph examiner with the OPP. She has also trained in Canada and the USA on veracity assessment. She is a recognized leader in the area of interview and interrogation and veracity assessment.
Sue is the recipient of the Exemplary Service Award from the Province of Ontario as well as the Bravery Award issued by the Ontario Provincial Police, Award of Valour from the Ontario Women in Law Enforcement and the Medal of Valor Award from the International Association of Women Police.
Sue is a member in good standing with the Canadian Association of Police Polygraphists (CAPP) and attends annual training sessions in polygraph, lie-detection and truth verification. She has conducted lie detection examinations for issues of National Security, and all matters involving major criminal investigations for the Ontario Provincial Police. Sue now administers private polygraph tests for private business, the legal profession, and all types of personal family relationship issues.
