Bob White
Digital Forensics Analyst and Investigator
Bob is a Digital Forensics Investigator with ISN where he brings over 31 years of investigative background after a career with the Ontario Provincial Police, 15 of those years in the role of Senior Forensic Analyst as a Detective Sergeant in the Technological Crime Unit of the Electronic Crime Section (ECS) where he worked on serious investigations including homicides, child exploitation, sexual assaults, criminal harassment, fraud, missing persons and other various major cases.
At the Technological Crime Unit (TCU), Bob was a Team Leader responsible for supervising both uniform and civilian analysts investigating cases involving child sexual exploitation. These cases included child luring, possession, as well as making and distributing child pornography. He has conducted hundreds of examinations of computers and various digital media while extracting and analyzing digital data across many platforms including Windows and MacIntosh operating systems.
Bob has been declared an expert witness several times in the Ontario Court of Justice and the Ontario Superior Court of Justice levels for Computer Forensics and Data Recovery. He is very comfortable meeting with Crown Attorneys, defence counsel, and other digital forensics defence experts when discussing evidentiary issues. Often, resolutions would be achieved by having the respective parties meet and understand the pending evidence to be presented in court, avoiding unnecessary and lengthy criminal trials.
Throughout his career, Bob has mentored and coached computer forensic investigators entering the profession. In addition, he worked with and assisted many Ontario municipal police services that did not have a computer forensics program to conduct investigations.
Bob is a past member of the International Society of Computer Forensic Examiners (ISFCE); the High Technology Crime Investigation Association (HTCIA) and the Ontario Provincial Strategy to Combat Internet Crimes Against Children.
Bob’s current role at ISN is conducting digital forensic investigations related to computers and cell phone examinations.
