Carolyn Csanyi
Senior Investigator
Carolyn (Rice) Csanyi is currently a Senior Investigator located in Kingston, Ontario. Carolyn has 33 years of law enforcement experience with extensive experience in the area of criminal investigations, professional standards and executive leadership. She is a retired police officer who served with both the Metropolitan Toronto Police for eight years and the Kingston Police for 25 years. She retired from the Kingston Police in July 2021 last holding the rank of Inspector in command of the Investigative Services Division and served as a liaison officer to the Ontario Special Investigation Unit.
During her career Carolyn spent over 15 years as an active investigator and manager in the Criminal Investigative Division where she had a passion for protecting the most vulnerable members of her community. Much of this time was focused in the area of investigating Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence and Harassment, Child Abuse and Exploitation and Major Crime incidents. Carolyn also led the Professional Standard Bureau conducting impartial investigations into public complaints and internal misconduct involving police officers. She has extensive experience and training in trauma informed interviewing and conducting and managing complex and sensitive investigations. This will now be her focus and responsibility with ISN.
Carolyn holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from St. Francis Xavier University. She has also completed the Rotman School of Management Executive Police Leadership Program. Her interests include tennis, gardening, travel and an annual journey to her maritime roots.
